I had a look at the Digital Nomad blog on my consulting website and realised that there is a massive hole in how I’ve documented my adventures living abroad while working remotely, plonked here in South Korea.
I feel a bit sad about that gap. There have been so many interesting experiences and great stuff figured out and learnt, but none of it has been captured
So I am going to be more consistent over her and re-commit to writing a weekly
A last minute presentation
This week I was asked at the last minute to present to a group of about 100 people who don’t speak much English. Super challenging for me with my broken Korean.
Fortunately, the topic was something I know well and could wing it – Australia.
But the audience was tough. One of the most brutal you can ever have – four and five-year-old kindy kids! I presented at my son’s daycare. It was a lot of fun and they were curious and asked a lot of questions. I brought in a stack of printed pictures – they went mad for the wombat, the big hairy spider and the enormous saltwater croc.
I think I might have scarred them for life. Sorry Tourism Australia! #notsorry
My big fat shiny new federal government project kicked off yesterday. I’m excited to be working on this one, together with the magnificent team from True North Content. My spidey senses are tingling, but all in a good way.
I’ve got a lot of reading to do next week as I slip into discovery mode and learn everything I can about this organisation’s goals, their users and their existing content.
I usually start to feel the creep of Imposter Syndrome at about this time. But perhaps because I’m feeling well-supported with the True North team and the client seems lovely, I’m not slipping into that self-doubting mode. At least not for now. These first few weeks, while my project learning curve is at its steepest, are always the toughest. I shall overcome!

Content Everywhere by Sara Wachter-Boettcher
Content Everywhere is a book about developing a content strategy for your website. With its many references to moving to mobile and some archaic web images, the book has dated since its release in 2012, but the core messages and information in the book are great. It’s kinda frightening how fast things move in our industry.
I think the best thing I’ve gotten out of the book is to be able to better articulate what I already know and do.
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
Crazy Rich Asians
I loved the way Kwan so quickly, easily and seamlessly slipped into the deep point-of-view of so many characters without disorienting me. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie.
